Bob Heaton Announces State Rep
Campaign

(Terre Haute) January 27, 2010 – Today, Bob Heaton announced he will seek
election to the Indiana House of Representatives in House District 46. “The
decision to run for office was not difficult to make,” Heaton said. “There is a
lot the General Assembly can do to protect the jobs we have, as well as bring
in new ones, that is not being done by the people currently in power.” House
District 46 includes all or parts of Clay, Monroe, Owen and Vigo counties in
West Central Indiana.

Heaton said the property tax caps are one of the most important issues to come
through the General Assembly and will provide permanent property tax relief for
Hoosiers around the state. “Now that the people will have a chance to vote on
the tax caps, I believe we will finally see permanent relief for taxpayers
throughout the state.”  However, Heaton
also expressed displeasure in the fact that his opponent voted against the tax
caps, allowing for government to continue to spend beyond its means.

Heaton said that when elected, he will work to ensure that taxes on businesses
remain low, and no new taxes are introduced.
“At a time when 10 percent of the state is looking for work, we need to
continue to work to create an environment that fosters the growth of
businesses.  Raising taxes and increasing
the burden on small businesses is the worst thing we could do right now.”

Bob Heaton is a 1975 graduate of Clay City High School, and 1980 graduate
of Indiana State University, where he played basketball alongside Larry Bird on
their way to the National Championship game.
Heaton attends Union Christian Church and has been married to his wife
Jane Ann for 29 years.  They have two
children and one grandchild.
