About Bob

Bob Heaton has called the Wabash Valley home his entire life.  Here he has raised his family, started his own business, and has chosen to be involved in our community.  Growing up in Clay County, Heaton graduated from Clay City High School in 1975.  While in college Bob had the opportunity to play alongside Larry Bird as the Sycamores reached the 1979 NCAA basketball championship game.  Heaton graduated from ISU in 1980 earning his Bachelor’s degree.

After graduating, Heaton began his career in the life insurance industry.  In recent years, Bob has started his own business, learning how to operate a payroll and “live within in your means’.”   In his business, Heaton has been working with clients as they decided on tough personal decisions concerning life insurance, disability insurance, long-term care, mutual funds and other retirement savings.

Bob and his wife of 29 years, Jane Ann, have two children.  His daughter, Allison, 26, is a pharmacist at Riley Children’s Hospital and was married to Andrew Russell in 2006.   His son Travis, 23, is currently attending classes at Ivy Tech.

When he is not working or spending time with his family, Heaton is very involved in the community.  He serves on several boards and works closely with his church.  Bob currently serves on the boards of the Terre Haute Boys and Girls Club, the Wabash Valley Youth for Christ, and the Terre Haute Convention and Visitors Bureau.  Heaton is also a member of the Terre Haute Downtown Rotary Club. Bob is a member of Leadership Terre Haute, Class 5, and is also member, and past Deacon, of the Cory Zion Church in Cory, IN.

With the current state of our economy Heaton believes that now, more than ever, we need strong leadership with a steadfast commitment to growing our economy, strengthening education, and keeping government spending under control.
